On Saturday evening, 31 October, we hosted our first Spring Ball: from Jazz to Jive!
We were reminded that 31 October was also Reformation Day on the church calendar, commemorating the restoration of the Church (in the 1500-1700s) to the authority of Scripture and the truth of the gospel, particularly the teaching that salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone, to the glory of God alone. And this is who we are and what we believe at Christ Church Somerset West.
And so there was much to be grateful for, as we enjoyed an evening of Christian fellowship, listening to and dancing to the tunes of our excellent jazz trio, Joie de Vivre, featuring our very own Jachin Klaasen on vocals. From classical jazz tunes, to old nostalgic songs, and more modern songs, everyone danced and jived the night away. There was much laughter and enjoyment, and all-in-all it was a very uplifting occasion for everyone.
We are very grateful to Joie de Vivre and Jachin for all their efforts and their amazing music, as well as to everyone who helped out to make the evening a great success. And thank you to everyone who came along - all proceeds from the ticket sales will go to the church to support our gospel ministry.
