TREASURE QUEST HOLIDAY CLUB ‘25

Holiday Club is always an exciting time at our church. This year has certainly been one for the books thanks to the grace of our God and the generous team of people that have served to make the Treasure Quest Holiday Club 2025 a reality.

Our adventure at sea made for an exciting setting to explore the Gospel through the book of Romans. We looked at God’s great rescue plan and how He has given us a new identity as His new crew and blessed us with unexpected treasure – more than we could ever imagine! It was amazing to see the kids get engage with the gospel and build relationships with each other and the leaders. This year we had about 20 leaders giving up their first week of school holidays to serve the kids and share the good news. We also had grade 6 and 7 leaders, called the Trailblazers, for the first time. Our leaders worked really hard at bringing the bringing the vibes and making holiday club memorable for the kids. Our two teams, the “swashbuckling silver cutlas catfish” and the “diamond dagger scallywagging sea dogs” shouted their chants with hearty vigour as they played games and committed to learning the memory verses.

It was also the first year that we had a band singing our theme song. The kids couldn’t help but shout as Sea King with the Sea Sharks made their way to the front of the boat. The famous Sketch also made quite the entrance with his deep sea diving mask, ready to summarise all that we had learnt that day. The adventures of Doughnut boy made a come back this year and his ability to bring doughnuts into every skit aways got the kids chuckling. All of this along with the amazing set made for one of the best weeks of the year for kids leader and parents.

A huge thank you to everyone who contributed to the unbelievable adventure Paul and Johnathan leading the team that built a ship in the hall. Adele leading the team of volunteers, planning crafts and helping with the general running of holiday club. Amy and Kaylin planing games and helping with the talks. Marilyn leading the team to make sure that food way ready for the kids and leaders. The leaders, the Trailblazers and for everyone who gave time, money and skills to make this a reality.

Our Grade 6&7s had their Treasure Quest Holiday Club programme in the afternoons, a number of whom were Trailblazers helping out in the mornings. Building on the theme of being at sea we made a number of different little ships and sea creatures — but much more importantly, we spent time in the book of Romans, seeing how we have reversed the created order, worshiping creatures rather than the creator; how through Christ God has given us a new and better family; how because of his mercy, we can be children of the promise; and finally how these truths grow in us a love for God and his church.

We're thankful to God for the leaders who helped each day, and for everyone who worked to make this possible behind the scenes. Pray that this holiday club would have a significant gospel impact, not only in the lives of the grade 6&7’s, but also in the lives of their family and friends.
