CROSSWORD YOUTH CAMP ‘25

Last week our teenagers headed to Crossword Cape Youth Camp—a week-long camp for both grades 7-9 (in Villiersdorp) and for grades 10-12 (in Wellington). We sent around twenty teenagers and ten leaders to these camps.

Trevor Pearce, youth minister at All Souls, Langham Place in London, flew down as the speaker for the junior camp, giving ten sermons on John’s gospel. There were also a number of electives, with both Lindo and Matthew speaking on the difference Jesus makes in our daily lives and encouraging those around us to follow Jesus respectively.

At the senior camp, Geoff Gertzen from St. Stephens Bible Church, Claremont, preached on the book of Genesis, and Jean-Philippe Engel from St. Timothy’s, Ottery, gave a series of talks on “controversial questions”—does church really matter; why did Jesus have to die; does God really care; and what to do when I have doubt?

Crossword is incredible for our youth leaders and teens; it’s great to have the opportunity for a week of time with them over and above our regular youth group meetings on Friday evenings. The goal is that every camper comes home closer to Christ; whether they don’t yet know Christ or have been following him for many years. Please pray that our teenagers and leaders would hold onto the truths of the gospel that they have heard on camp and indeed come away closer to our great God.
