CLASSIC CAROLS…WITH A TOUCH OF JAZZ
On Sunday evening, 21 December, our church gathered for our annual Classic Carols service—this year with a distinctive jazz flavour. The evening was enriched by a talented jazz trio: Haydon on piano, Jonathan on drums, and Andre on bass, with Victoria and Sigrid leading us in song.
Jackie Morton guided us through the service as narrator, introducing each carol with a brief explanation of its musical origins. These insights helped place the carols within their historical contexts, deepening our appreciation and making our shared singing all the more meaningful.
Gavin concluded the evening by drawing our attention to the heart of the Christmas message from John chapter 1: God made flesh in the incarnation of Christ, the One who has made God known to us. This truth is the glorious reality we celebrated together—lifting our voices in song as we rejoiced in the wonder of Christ’s coming to save us!
