MAKING SPACE… ONE PARKING BAY AT A TIME
One of the great joys of the last few years has been seeing our church grow. New faces, familiar faces, families, friends. It’s a real gift. Not something we can take credit for, but something we receive with gratitude, knowing it’s all by God’s grace.
With that growth comes a very down-to-earth challenge: parking.
Our building has room for everyone, but our parking has always been a little… creative. The completion of the building work at the top of the property has resulted in a few extra spaces, which helps, but as many of you know, there are still Sundays where parking fills up quickly, especially just before a service starts.
Our biggest concern isn’t inconvenience, it’s welcome. We never want someone arriving for the first time to feel unsure, stressed, or like there isn’t space for them.
That’s why we’ve started using the open area across Old Stellenbosch Road. To make this easier and safer, a security guard is on duty there from 7:15 until the last cars have left. If you’re able to, we’d love to ask you to consider parking there. Yes, it’s a little further. Yes, there’s a bit of a climb. But think of it as a built-in Sunday morning stretch.
This small choice can make a big difference for someone else.
We’re also really grateful for our parking ministry. It’s one of those behind-the-scenes teams that quietly sets the tone for the morning. A wave, a smile, a bit of help goes a long way. We’d love to grow this ministry, especially to cover the bottom parking area, but right now we simply don’t have enough hands.
Serving on the parking team isn’t just practical, it’s relational. It’s a great way to meet people, feel connected, and play a part in making church feel like home. If you’re interested, please chat to Bharn or any of the staff, or WhatsApp Bharn on 071 985 9921. We’d love to have you.
The Bible reminds us, “Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms” (1 Peter 4:10). Sometimes that gift looks like teaching, sometimes like encouragement, and sometimes it looks like choosing a parking spot that helps someone else feel welcome.
A few final small requests. Please try to leave the spaces closest to the church for those who have difficulty walking. And between services, traffic can get a bit tight near Spar. If you’re able to, please use the top gate when leaving and keep the road next to Spar clear for incoming cars.
Thank you for being a church that cares about people in big ways and small ones. Even something as ordinary as parking can become a quiet act of service and love.
We’re really glad you’re here.
