On Saturday, 22 August, we hosted the annual REACH Women Conference for over 400 women from across the Boland region. Sandra Lyons was our speaker this year, on the important topic “More Than a Feeling: Understanding our God-given Emotions”.

Our emotions are God-given gifts intended for growth, as we navigate this broken world. But managing our emotions can be so tough. As Christian women, we need help engaging with our complex emotions like fear, anger and grief before the Lord, rather than suppressing, venting or ignoring them. We need God's help to move from being stuck and overwhelmed by our emotions, to using them for growth in our faith and relationships.

Our conference was a time of deep bible teaching, praise, worship, prayer, reflection and fellowship. We dug deep into God’s Word and asked him to help us understand our emotions he’s given us through the lens of the Gospel. Because God created our emotions, he also knows how to shepherd them.

Women were greatly encouraged in their faith, and we thank the Lord for the opportunity and privilege we had to host the event here at Christ Church Somerset West again this year.
